Server-Side Meta Tracking
for Shopify
Send conversion data reliably to the Meta Conversions API (Facebook & Instagram). Bypass ad blockers, improve event match quality and optimize your campaigns with comprehensive data.
Browser pixels lose up to 40% of your Meta conversions according to industry estimates
Ad blockers, iOS 14.5+ and cookie restrictions prevent the Meta pixel in the browser from capturing all events. Server-side tracking sends events directly from the server to Meta, bypassing these issues.
Better Event Match Quality
The Meta Conversions API uses server-side data points for a higher match rate. Your events are more reliably attributed to the right users.
Ad blocker resistant
Server-side events are not blocked by browser extensions. Your Facebook and Instagram campaigns receive comprehensive conversion data.
More precise audiences
With comprehensive conversion data, Meta creates better lookalike audiences and optimizes your campaigns more effectively.
Supported Meta Events
All relevant e-commerce events are automatically sent to the Meta Conversions API. Additional events are also supported.
PageView
Captures every page view of your store for reach measurement and retargeting.
ViewContent
Tracks product views with item details for dynamic retargeting.
AddToCart
Detects when products are added to the cart. Ideal for cart abandonment campaigns. In Webhook-Only mode without user identifier — Dual-Track recommended for campaign matching.
InitiateCheckout
Captures checkout start for precise funnel analysis and checkout optimization.
Purchase
The most important event: Captures completed orders with revenue data for ROAS optimization.
Better matching through External ID
ShopiPixel includes an additional pseudonymous identifier with every event. This improves the matching of your events — even without email or phone number.
Pseudonymous External ID on every event
The External ID is a hashed, pseudonymous value. Plaintext data never reaches the advertising platforms.
Automatic fbclid/fbc matching
ShopiPixel automatically detects Meta click IDs (fbclid/fbc) and sends them with every event. This significantly improves event match quality and leads to more precise attribution.
Ready in 3 steps
No technical knowledge required. Setup takes less than 5 minutes.
Install
Install ShopiPixel from the Shopify App Store. Integrated into your store with one click.
Connect with Meta
Click "Connect with Meta" and authorize ShopiPixel. Then pick your ad account and pixel from the dropdowns — no token copy-paste. The pixels offered are those assigned to the selected ad account; if the selection stays empty — for example because your pixel only belongs to the business portfolio — you enter its ID directly in the same place. Meta can also be set up without the OAuth connection: enter your pixel ID and a CAPI token from the Meta Events Manager.
Done
Events are delivered server-side to Meta and appear in your Meta Events Manager. You can see the connection status in the dashboard.
Sync Custom Audiences automatically
Create and update Meta Custom Audiences directly from ShopiPixel. Your customer segments are automatically synchronized with the Meta Business Manager.
Lookalike Audiences
Based on your best customers, Meta automatically creates Lookalike Audiences. Server-side data provides a more precise foundation.
Dynamic Retargeting
Use server-side event data for more precise retargeting segments. Reach users that the browser pixel would have missed.
Buyer Exclusion
Automatically exclude existing buyers from prospecting campaigns. Less waste, more efficient ad spend.
Import Meta ad spend automatically
ShopiPixel automatically imports your Meta ad spend and shows the platform-attributed ROAS per campaign — the conversion values come straight from Meta's own attribution (consistent with your Meta Ads Manager). All cost and revenue data in one dashboard.
True ROAS
Combine your imported Meta ad spend with the conversion values Meta itself attributes per campaign. You see exactly the ROAS your Meta Ads Manager reports under your configured attribution window.
Campaign Overview

Setting up the Meta Conversions API: 3 ways
There are several ways to connect the Meta Conversions API to your Shopify store. Here are three of them — you pick one.
Native via Shopify
Shopify's Facebook & Instagram sales channel connects the Meta pixel and the Conversions API directly. This route is available without an additional app, but follows Shopify's standard configuration and standard events.
DIY: GTM server-side
A server-side Google Tag Manager container sends the events to Meta. This route is flexible, but requires a self-hosted server container, your own tag configuration and ongoing maintenance — so technical know-how and infrastructure.
With ShopiPixel
Install ShopiPixel from the Shopify App Store, connect with Meta via one-click OAuth (or enter pixel ID and CAPI token manually) — after that, events flow server-side to your Meta Events Manager. No server container, no API formatting required.
Frequently asked questions about the Meta Conversions API
Do I still need the browser pixel?
ShopiPixel uses a dual-track approach: A web pixel in the browser captures early events like PageView and AddToCart, while server-side secures the important conversion events like Purchase. Automatic deduplication via the event_id ensures that events are not counted twice. The combination delivers the best results.
What is Event Match Quality?
Event Match Quality (EMQ) is a score between 0 and 10 that Meta calculates for each event. It indicates how well Meta can match the event to a user. Server-side events can be enriched with additional hashed identifiers (e.g. email address, phone number, external ID), which increases EMQ. You can see the EMQ score per platform in the ShopiPixel Health Dashboard.
Does CAPI work with the cookie banner?
Yes. Even with server-side tracking, personal data (such as email addresses from purchases) is transmitted to advertising platforms — you need your customers' consent for this. ShopiPixel automatically respects Shopify's Customer Privacy settings: events are only sent when the customer has consented — where required for the customer's region. The onboarding guides you through setting up your cookie banner and runs a live test to check whether a consent signal arrives from your store.
Which events are transmitted?
All relevant e-commerce events: PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout and Purchase. Additional events are also supported, and custom events can be defined on top. Purchase is the most important event — it captures completed orders with revenue data for ROAS optimization.
